About Edwina
Since 1997, I have enjoyed being a studio artist and living in the vibrant Penland community near Spruce Pine, NC, moving here after 24 years of teaching at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
In 1964 I was introduced to weaving when I was privileged to take a weaving class at the Penland School of Crafts. Later I became a Resident Artist and first taught there in 1969. I have been a proud supporter of Penland's Annual Fundraising Auction and have been flattered to do so by invitation since the first Auction in 1985.
Sharing my talents through teaching has always been a most satisfying endeavor. I have continued to share at Penland (most current, Spring, 2013), as well as at The Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Gatlinburg, TN, The John C. Campbell Folk School, Brasstown, NC, and through presentations and workshops at fiber arts guilds and conferences.
I am honored to have work in the collections at The North Carolina Museum of History, Greenville Museum of Art (SC), Gregg Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC, The Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC and in numerous private collections. I have participated in more than 50 solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums including The Smithsonian, Blue Spiral, and The Southern Highland Craft Guild, of which I am a Lifetime Member.
